ABOUT US:

New to Pikeville Church?

What Are You Looking For In A Church?

Whatever your background it is okay.  We all arrived here in different ways.

> Some people grew up in church and had a bad experience and left church.

> Some people have always been in church but their needs are not being met and they are looking for something different.

> Some people did to go to church, but got lazy and out of the habit and haven't been in a long time.

> Some have never set foot in a church!

So, what are you looking for in a church?

> A place with a safe, nurturing environment for your baby or toddler?

> A place where your kids can have a great time and learn timeless values?

> A place where your teenager can hang out with people his age in a positive environment while learning how to be a follower of Christ?

> A place that you can worship with some great music, extremely interesting and relevant teaching, and amazing opportunities to serve others?

Well, you may just be in the right place. Pikeville Church in Pikeville North Carolina is all of those places.

At Pikeville Church we believe that every soul matters to God.  When you attend one of our services, you'll see a variety of people all colors and economic backgrounds. It's a place where Flip Flop wearers and Business Casual people can feel comfortable. It's a place where we reach out and you matter.

So, that's a little bit of what we are about.  If you still have some questions look around on the website or shoot us an email or phone call, we'd love to answer them.

What to Expect

At Pikeville Church you will quickly find a warm, friendly group of people. We are committed to making church exciting, life changing, and enjoyable.

While worship is in happening in the worship center age appropriate worship opportunities are provided in other parts of the building. We provide four age appropriate nurseries, Kids Worship (ages 5-11), and a Middle School for students (grades 6-8).

The general worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. and last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is multi-generational and suitable for both teens and adults. It is a happy experience that features contemporary praise and worship songs, biblical preaching/teaching, and an open altar with opportunity to publicly make your decision to follow Jesus Christ.

Greeters and Hosts are available every Sunday. They may be identified by a lapel pin and are located all throughout the church to make sure you get assistance and your questions are answered.

After service the pastor and other staff make themselves available in the front foyer just outside the doors of the worship center. Please take the opportunity to meet and greet, ask questions, and connect.

We encourage you to come as you are, modest casual attire is welcomed. What is most important to us is that you come and experience what God wants to do in your life.

Who We Are

We have a passion for our community and world. Everything we do involves reaching out to help people. We are a warm and friendly church that since 1924 has provided a great place to grow in your spiritual walk.

The Vision: Pikeville Church exists to lead people in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and to empower them in living out their faith.

The Target: Pikeville Church targets unconnected young families, specifically families with school age children.

The Mission: Mission defines how the vision will be accomplished. We structure this ministry around four basic concepts. Every person is called to…

WORSHIP – Private and corporate worship overarches everything we do. It is the life-center of spiritual life. Energy from worship will flow into the ministries, and energy from the ministries will flow into worship.

LEARN – God calls us to study; we have developed one coordinated educational system. Age appropriate classes meet throughout the week at times convenient to those involved. There is a core curriculum and classes designed around specific needs.

OBEY – It is our goal that people connect with each other’s. We use Care Groups led by spiritual parents to accomplish this. The goal is to help people grow and develop their relationships with God and others. In groups individuals receive pastoral care, nurture, fellowship, and accountability.

GO – God has gifted every Christians for ministry. The challenge is that each person discovers, develops, and deploys their gift. This area of the church has to do with work organization and staffing. People serve in rotations in their area of giftedness. God is worthy of our best, we must offer Him excellence.

We hope you’ll visit us soon and find out for yourself!

Our Core Values

There is a difference in a preference and a value. Certain values are core and held dear at Pikeville Church. These are comprehensive ideas to which we give ourselves.

Doctrinal Purity – We believe the Bible is divinely inspired, infallible, an all-sufficient guide in faith and practice. The detailed doctrinal statement appears below.

Worship – Every person is to worship God regularly, privately, and corporately by learning, experiencing, and living a life of authentic worship.

Discipleship – Discipleship begins with being born-again and continues into maturity and leadership reproduction.

Servanthood –Jesus on the cross modeled this best on the cross. He sacrificed himself for another. In that same spirit of sacrifice we give ourselves for Him and others.

Relationship – God made us to live in “community.” The healing power of Jesus is experienced most effectively when the person is connected to a caring spiritual community.

People – We love and welcome all people without regards of race, social-economic standing, past, or present need. All people are treated gently and with respect.

What We Believe

(A more complete doctrinal statement may be found on Pentecostal Free Will Baptist website, www.pfwb.org)

We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ: That Christ is the only begotten Son of God, and born of the Virgin Mary.  That Christ died for our sins, was buried, and raised from the dead.  That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as our intercessor.

We believe that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” and that repentance is necessary for the forgiveness of sins.

We believe that justification is by faith alone, and that regeneration or the new-birth through faith in the blood of Christ is absolutely essential.

We believe that sanctification is subsequent to regeneration and is a second definite instantaneous work of grace: obtained by faith on the part of the fully justified believer.

We believe that the Pentecostal Baptism of the Holy Ghost is an enduement of power for those who have clean hearts, and the initial evidence of the reception of this experience is speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

We believe that the saved should receive water baptism, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, as a testimony to the world that he has accepted Christ as Savior and Lord.

We believe in divine healing as provided in the atonement.  We believe in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as commemorating Christ’s death and anticipating His Second Coming, and feet washing.

We believe in the Personal, Pre-millennial, Second Coming of Jesus: first, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to meet Him in the air; second, to reign with His saints on earth a thousand years.

We believe the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to life eternal and the lost to everlasting punishment.
