Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV
Pikeville Church has made progress but much remains undone.
Change while un-nerving to many is ongoing in our life, as well as in Bible days.
Change is needed to bring clarity – movement – alignment - and focus
Pikeville Church Vision statement, “Pikeville Church exists to lead people in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and to empower them in living out their faith.”
Four key components of mission
• Worship –A living, worshipping relationship with Jesus is primary.
• Learn – One educational system to plan, coordinate, schedule, and staff learning opportunities.
• Obey –Spiritual and mature leaders give themselves to spiritual parenting.
• Go – Every Christian is gifted and expected to use their ministry gift.
“CHANGE” as an acrostic.
C – COMPARE
Many indicators suggest the desire to be Christ to the community.
The ‘08 Sunday morning attendance is up 10.4% and tithes are up 6.3% over ’07.
H – HEART
Know your heart by your passions.
Where your treasure is there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21
A - AIM
Our arms are open to all people, especially this community.
Pikeville Church targets unconnected young families, specifically families with school age children.
N - NEGLECT
Pikeville Church is becoming and doing many excellence things it must not neglect.
G – GROWTH
Growth is the outcome of being healthy.
An intentional process of discipling results in numerical growth, but it is not the objective.
E - EXPECTATIONS
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
“let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us.” Hebrews 12:1 KJV
Let us Arise and Build the Body.
