It’s Time To Get The Ashes Off The Altar
Expectations and hurts from the past are represented by the ashes. To receive the fresh and full blessing from God we must let go of the "ashes" to receive the fullness of God's overflow into our lives.
It’s Time To Get The Ashes Off The Altar
Numbers 4:13
"And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon..." KJV
"Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.” Genesis 8:20 NIV
The altar was to be made "of earth or stone that had not been shaped or cut with human hands" and "there were to be no steps up to the altar." Exodus 20:24-26 KJV
The main function of the altar was for sacrifice and worship.
Special care was taken to keep the altar holy and to get rid of the accumulated ashes daily.
Are you seeking God for a blessing, and you haven’t taken out the old ashes from the past?
I HAVE LEARNED THAT…
I. ASHES ARE BITTER!
"See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." Hebrews 12:15:
When we feed on ashes, we allow things done yesterday to affect how we feel and function today.
"The thief comes to rob, steal, and destroy, but I’ve come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.”
II. ASHES PROVIDE NO STRENGTH.
"My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread." Psalm 102:4 KJV,
"For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping." Psalm 102:9 KJV
Your spiritual strength is in proportion to how much fresh spiritual bread you eat daily!
III. ASHES WILL MAKE YOU SICK!
Some ignored the instruction and kept manna overnight, "worms got in it and it stank!" Exodus 16
Yesterday’s manna breeds worms and stinks - today’s manna tastes fresh and strengthens!
When you get a fresh touch from God…
- BITTERNESS is replaced with SWEETNESS!
- WEAKNESS is replaced with STRENGTH!
- SICKNESS is replaced with HEALTH!
- HUNGER is replaced with SATISFACTION!
Get rid of yesterday’s ashes and dress the altar of your life to please the King of Kings!
"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." 1 Corinthians 9:27
"It’s Time To Get The Ashes Off The Altar!"
