The Power of Living With Passion

Paul lived with an intense, relentless, burning desire to accomplish great things. He endured an enormous amount of adversity and yet he just kept going, the key was his passion. This sermon looks at what it means to live a life of passion. Passion brings life into focus as nothing else can.

THE POWER OF LIVING WITH PASSION
Romans 9:1 – 5

God created you with emotions and He wants you to live a passionate life.

Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these.” Mark 12:29 - 31 (The Message)

"Whatever you do, do it with all of your heart as unto the Lord and not unto men.” Colossians 3:23 NIV

In America, it’s ok to be passionate about anything except God.

The book of Romans is a summary of the doctrine and lifestyle of Paul. Paul was a man who lived with an intense, relentless, burning desire to accomplish great things.

Passion brings your life into focus as nothing else can.

1. It Will Keep You Awake At Night.

I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. Romans 9:2 NIV

Julia Child spent two years and 284 pounds of flour developing her French bread recipe - this is passion.

2. It Will Cause You To Sacrifice.

For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Paul had a spirit of sacrifice. Romans 9:3-4a NIV

Tae Won Cho came to the US in the 80's with only a dream today his annual sales exceed $10 million dollars.

Is there something in your life that you want that much?

3. It Compels You to Try Again

Paul’s message was mostly, rejected by Jewish listeners but he kept preaching.

  • He faced opposition, but he kept preaching the gospel.
  • He was run out of town, but he just went right back.
  • He was put in prison so he started writing letters.

The person who won't be stopped can't be stopped.

Passionately accomplish something great for the kingdom of God.

Ask God to fill your heart with passion for bringing Him glory.
