Breaking The Big Barrier
Most of us have been in the situation where one obstacle created a gigantic barrier between you and the abundant life. You are sincere in your desire to follow Jesus but one problem or sin keeps getting the best of you.
In the Old Testament Namaan was wealthy, successful, and influential, but he had leprosy. Leprosy had the potential to ruin him but he did something right before it ruined him, he sought help. He broke the big barrier.
Maybe you are facing an obstacle that hasn't yet, but has the potential to ruin you and bring hurt to others. Today is the day to break that barrier and to enter the life God has for you. From Namaan we learn three keys to that success. Godly people in your life won’t solve your problems for you, but their godly wisdom through them can help you find your way and connect with the power of God.
Many want God to do it all, like Namaan there is something for you to do. Dipping in the Jordan River seemed foolish to him but it was God's way to victory. Trust God's Word and not your reasoning about what you should do to fix what is broken in your life. To gain a break through, we do the possible in faith that God will do the impossible. The Jordan River didn't have the power to heal his leprosy, but consistent obedience to the Word of God did have the power to break the barrier that exists in his life.
BREAKING THE BIG BARRIER
2 Kings 5:9-14
Have you had the situation where life was good, except one thing?
Naaman had one big barrier - he suffered from leprosy,
From Namaan learn three keys to destroy barriers.
1. Give Others Permission To Speak Into Your Life.
Namaan did the right thing because he listened to a slave-girl and a soldier who served under him.
Sometimes help comes from unexpected sources.
Andrew Carnegie said, "It marks a big step in a man's development when he comes to realize that other men can be called in to help him do a better job than he can do alone."
Ken Blanchard, author of The One Minute Manager, said, "None of us is as smart as all of us."
Recognize that others at times have more insight than you do.
"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed." Proverbs 15:22 NLT
2. Be Willing To Knock On More Than One Door.
The king of Israel didn't see the opportunity - he saw a threat.
Why are you so upset? Send Namaan to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel. 2 King 5:8 NLT
Keep knocking until you find your Elisha and then connect with the power of God.
3. Expect To Act Rather Than Merely Receive.
On the verge of being healed, Namaan is mad thinking Elisha is not doing things right.
Many wish for God to send someone to wave his hand and make all their problems go away.
Many want the spectacular with no responsibility in the miracle.
God calls us to do the possible by faith, so that He can do the impossible.
The Jordan River didn't have power to heal leprosy. The power to break any barrier comes from consistent obedience to God.
