Don't Quit - The Best is Yet to Come!
God has called us to a great work in His Church. The greatest days for His church are ahead of us if we keep God as our #1 priority as. His plan must be our main agenda. An African proverb says, “The man who tries to walk two roads, splits his pants.”
Getting started isn't enough, we must be determined to complete the task. God calls us to not quit because the best is yet to come. At times everyone must deal with discouragement. How do we keep from becoming discouraged, to press on and not quit? The Pastor gave eight suggestions. Discuss the "how to" of these principals
1. Expect the enemy to try to discourage you.
2. Examine your perspective and check your vision.
3. Judge what you say and to what you listen.
4. Listen for God’s word of encouragement.
5. Look for God’s vision and perspective.
6. Receive the strength of His Spirit to move forward.
7. Exercise your faith and just do it.
8. Believe that the best is yet to come.
Don’t let anything rob you of a God-given dream.
Don't Quit - The Best Is Yet To Come!
Haggai 2:6-9
God called Israel to complete the Temple and He called us to complete His work in this generation.
1. GOD KNOWS WE CAN BE EASILY DISCOURAGED.
To be discouraged is to be overwhelmed or to lose heart.
'Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing? Haggai 2:3 NIV
We are not to focus on the glory of former days, it cause one to lose hope for the future.
2. GOD’S ANTIDOTE FOR DISCOURAGEMENT
We need to be filled with courage and hope, from One who possesses strength and hope.
…Be strong, all you people of the land,' declares the LORD, 'and work. For I am with you,' declares the LORD Almighty. 5 'This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.' Haggai 2:4b - 5 NIV
God’s work is accomplished only through the power of the Spirit.
3. DON’T QUIT, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD Almighty. 8 ’The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the LORD Almighty. 9 ’The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ’And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty." Haggai 2:7b - 9 (NIV)
Jesus Himself visited some 500 years later the temple that Zerubbabel and the people completed.
