How to Complete Your Life Mission
Completing years of school or college involves facing some very tough challenges. As we can all testify, making it through life will include continuous encounters with challenges that we must meet. Graduate face them with some victories already under your belt.
How can you assure your continued success and complete your life mission successfully. One of the greatest hazards to success is fear. While not all fear is bad, everyone knows what its like to be afraid. However, when fear immobilizes and keeps us from doing that to which we are called, we are dominated by a "spirit of fear."
Scripture reminds us that to finish your life mission successfully, "Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith" (Heb. 12:2).
Our reference point is Jesus Christ. You can and should be flexible on many things in life. However, when it comes to the true reference point of your life, focus on Jesus and his teachings and don’t budge. It is so easy to become distracted, focus, remove obstacles, and tie into a local Christian body that will help you navigate life.
HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR LIFE MISSION
2 Timothy 1:7
One of the greatest hazards to success is fear.
I. Face Your Fears
Paul reminds young Timothy that fearfulness did not come from God.
For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control. II Timothy 1:7 NCV
With God in control…
- We can face our fears,
- Love when others hate,
- Be under control when others throw restraint to the wind
“Fear doesn’t want you to make the journey to the mountain. If he can rattle you enough, fear will persuade you to take your eyes off the peaks and settle for a dull existence in the flatlands.” Max Lucado
II. Forget Your Failures
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 NIV
Paul refused to allow failures to become destructive in his life or weighed down his journey to his goal.
His secret is to put his past behind him.
When we fail, learn from it then put it behind you, never allow failure to make us quit trying.
III. Follow Your Faith
The book of Hebrews is written to encourage saints never to give up.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. Hebrews 12:1-3 NLT
All runners need a reference point in running a race.
Graduates follow your faith, remain focused on Jesus all the way.
