Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? Gen 4:6 NIV Anger touches all of us, we've all felt it and know it. put a “D” in front of anger and you get danger. Many have experienced destroyed relationships, destroyed bodies, and even destroyed churches, because of anger not being handled in a godly way.
The first offerings brought to God were by Cain and Abel. Abel brings an offering of fat portions, the first fruit of all the animals. Cain brings something he had grown from the ground that was inferior. God received Abel's offering but not Cain's. Abel was giving his best but Cain was giving what was left over.
God gently confronts Cain and asks, "Why are you angry?" God already knows why he's angry, but Cain doesn't even realize he's angry. I John 3:12 says this: "Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous."
