Pick Up The Trowel
Everyone has a call from God for greatness that few will ever attain because of a failure to start and keep momentum.
PICK UP THE TROWEL
Nehemiah 4:10 - 11
Everyone has a call from God for greatness that few will ever attain because of a failure to start and keep momentum.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6 KJV
Nehemiah is an excellent example of how to overcome momentum busters.
I. We Lose the Mo When We Lose Strength V.10
To regain your strength...
A. Recover Your Joy - Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10, NKJV
B. Wait on the Lord - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31, KJV.
C. Tarry In His Presence - "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry [or wait] in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." Luke 24:49 NKJV
II. We Lose the Mo When We Lose Vision
They focused on the rubbish rather than the wall and saw the failure, not the possibility.
Peter heard Jesus call to come, as long as he was focused on Jesus he walked on the water. He sank when he focused on the waves.
Are you focusing on the rubbish or the wall?
III. We Lose the Mo When We Lose Confidence
"We are not able to rebuild the wall.”
God called Paul to be the Apostle to the Gentiles. The Jews had tried to keep Judaism as a distinctly Jewish religion. Paul put on his spiritual armor, took his stand.
If God calls you to it, He will see you through it.
"He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" Philippians 1:6
IV. We Lose the Mo When We Listen To the Enemy
They were quoting the enemy, "Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work." Nehemiah 4:11
The enemy always speaks defeat and failure.
Nehemiah 6:15-16, "So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God."
The locomotive with a hundred rail cars rolling at 50 mph requires up to a mile or more to stop.
Movement and momentum begin with the first step.
