Who Can Know The Heart
WHO CAN KNOW THE HEART?
Jeremiah 17:9-10
The word "heart" appears in the Bible more than 100 times. It most often refers to your psychological core, your deepest motives.
The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalms 51:10
… For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Matthew 12:34
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1
The state of your heart is the most important thing in your life.
How to make our heart what God wants it to be?
I. Don't Try To Judge Your Own Heart
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
Jeremiah warns the heart will play tricks on you; sometimes it will wrongly accuse you or wrongly excuse you.
In the story of David and Goliath his brother said..."I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle" 1 Samuel 17:28.
If David had believed his brother, he would have gone home and the Philistines would have won the battle.
II. Place Your Heart in God's Care
I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind..." Jeremiah 17:10.
God knows you inside out and if your heart isn't what it should be he can fix it.
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:25-27
The only way to be sure your heart is right is to yield it completely to God.
III. Your Actions Reveal the State of Your Heart
I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve. Jeremiah 17:10
Your actions and conduct more than anything reveals the state of your heart. There's no such thing as a good-hearted person who refuses to do right.
Put your heart in God's care and focus on doing what you know is right. It is by your actions that you will be judged.
You may not always know the state of your heart but you can know with absolute certainty the state of God's heart.
