The God of the Forgotten Past
Mark 16:7

"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." Hebrews 8:12

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25

You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19

You can be propelled from pathetic failure to fearless leader.

How do you get there?

1. Keep the Door Open

Many close the door to reconciliation by concluding; He's through with me, I won't bother him again.

Judas didn’t consider that he could be forgiven and in desperation killed himself.

The story of Peter teaches God can use a man in spite of past sins.

2. Keep The Light On.

To experience the restoring grace of God, continue to allow his light to shine in your life.

a. Learn the Bible.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 NIV

People like Peter, David, Jonah, Abraham, Moses, foolishly turned their backs on God, yet they were all miraculously restored.

b. Make an effort to pray.

"Pray hardest when it's hardest to pray." Author Unknown

It's hard to pray when you feel you are God's biggest disappointment. David prayed his way through these troubled times.

c. Stay with God's people.

Avoid mean and cruel people, they will destroy your joy and will ruin your walk with God.

Find truly spiritual people whose live true holiness; allow them minister God's grace to you.

3. Keep the Fire Burning

Peter was changed because…

a. He got serious about loving Jesus.

In John 21 Jesus challenged Peter to love him more and to serve Him by serving others.

The fire of the Christian life is in your love for Jesus Christ.

b. Seek the power of the Holy Ghost

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you ... (Acts 1:8)

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 KJV

Living outside of Holy Spirit power leads to failure and sin.

Our God is the God of the forgotten past, and the new day.
