THE LESS TRAVELED PATH TO HAPPINESS

THE LESS TRAVELED PATH TO HAPPINESS
Philippians 2:5 - 11
The Philippians kind of joy or happiness is based on knowing who you are in Christ.
A servant heart doesn't come naturally.
Most think they will be most happy when people serve them and nursing their every urge.
How you can find happiness on the road less traveled.
1. FIND HAPPINESS IN BUILDING UP OTHERS
Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose... Philippians 2:2 NIV
My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, how I wish I could be with you... Galatians 4:19 NIV
Think about your life, what will make YOUR joy complete?
When Paul saw them walking with the Lord he was filled with joy because he knew that he had done his job.
Think of your life in terms of the good you can help others accomplish.
2. FIND HAPPINESS IN SACRIFICIAL LIVING.
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. Philippians 2:17
Paul’s servant attitude was "If my sacrifice will help somebody and glorify God in the long run, I’ll do it!
This attitude should be second nature for parents.
The servant may sacrifice and others reap the benefit. Your attitude determines if that brings bitterness or happiness to you.
3. FIND HAPPINESS IN SHOWING APPRECIATION
Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him, because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me. Philippian 2:28 - 30
Seize every opportunity to show appreciation to those who serve us.
The best life you can possibly live -- the life that will bring you joy - happiness - contentment and fulfillment -- is a life in service to others.
Make a list of what you can do for others to turn your lemons into lemonade?
