DO NOT ONLY SURVIVE - THRIVE
DO NOT ONLY SURVIVE - THRIVE!
Mark 10:46 – 52
Memorial Day - every memorial has a message to recollect, rehearse, and remember.
Blind Bartimaeus was forced to sit along the roadside, begging, hoping kindhearted travelers would spare him a few coins.
Lessons from his life teach how to move beyond surviving to thriving.
I. GAIN FROM THE OPPORTUNITIES GOD PROVIDES
"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." He capitalized on the opportunity God placed before him.
In Mark 10:17-31 Jesus told about a rich young ruler looking for an opportunity.
Jesus told him to "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me."
The ruler chose what he owned rather than follow Jesus.
Levi Strauss embraced his opportunity. Opportunities are opportunities only when embraced.
When you hear what you cannot see, faith must become an action.
Elisha told Ahab, “Get up, eat and drink, for I hear the sound of abundance of rain” 1 Kings 18:41.
II. MINIMIZE NEGATIVE VOICES
Bartimaeus cried out for help but the crowd “rebuked him and told him to be quiet."
People hear differently in the same service, singing the same songs, and hearing the same sermon.
Bartimaeus would not give up. "He shouted all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me."
David brought food to his brothers, they were negative toward him, but he insisted that he be given a chance to fight Goliath.
III. EXERCISE YOUR FAITH
"Go, your faith has healed you."
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6
Complete faith is obedient faith.
If today was your intersection faith and destiny at the feet of Jesus, what would you ask for Him to do for you?
Don’t miss your moment.
