THE REST AREA
John 14:27 & 16:33

True peace comes from the God of peace and is not the absence of struggle but the abiding presence of calm.

You can buy sleep in a drugstore, but only God can give you peace. True rest is in knowing God.

I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. John 4:35 KJV

This world is ripe for a message of hope and healing.

I. THE SITUATION

After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me." John 13:21 NIV

My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.  John 13:33 NIV

Every miracle, every lesson, every parable, every command, every example, everything they had seen Jesus do, or heard Jesus say, was preparing them for this very hour.

II. THE SECURITY

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26, NIV.

Jesus promises us His peace. A picture of that peace is Jesus in a storm in Mark 4:35 - 41.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace, be still!'"  Mark 4:39

He looked out over the storm, took authority, and spoke peace into the situation. He asks them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"

Jesus is not surrendering His Sovereignty here He is saying that we can trust Him.

III. THE SERENITY

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 KJV

His peace is the peace IN the problem, the calm IN the calamity, and the serenity IN the storm.

Paul and Silas were beaten, put in stocks, and locked in the prison, but at midnight, a peace that passes understanding empowered them to pray and sing praises to God.

This is a pivotal time the world is being tossed in a sea of empty promises and broken dreams. The church needs to show the world there is hope and healing.

Our hope is in the Peace Speaker. We have “Peace, peace, wonderful peace, coming down from the Father above.”

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 NIV

We have come to the kingdom for such a time as this
